Beth and Beauty 101: DIY Lip Scrub and Moisturizer

Beth and Beauty's Thrifty Thursday DIY Lip Scrub Ingredients and Tools

Hi! Beauties! In case you noticed, I took a little hiatus from my my blog last week. I needed some time to regroup. Thank you so much for all your kind words and thoughts. Today on Beth and Beauty I am going to share with you a little DIY project that I did for my lips. I don’t know if you have ever used Lush’s Sugar Lip Scrubs or not, I have tried the Bubblegum flavored one and I loved it, but the price of $9.95 is just a little steep to me for a natural sugar lip scrub. I was shopping at Ross’s last weekend and I saw the above pictured Sugar Time Pink sugar crystals and I immediately thought of making my own sugar lip scrub. I thought I would share my concoction with you. I am in no way saying mine is better than Lush’s but it does work for my lips and leaves my lips so moisturized. I will say though on my next batch I am going to go with regular granulated sugar because the crystals above does work but are little too big for my taste. I will be honest the pink of the sugar above is what caught my eye….LOL! I will just play around with some natural food dyes next time along with some more exciting flavors. I was in WalMart and noticed they have a Root Beer food flavoring…..can’t wait to try this one out. This recipe is going to be my base recipe. I am loving it, my lips are so smooth and moisturized. So first I will share with you the ingredients that I used (as pictured above):

  1. 1 Tablespoon of Vaseline
  2. 1/4 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil
  3. 1/8 teaspoon of clear vanilla flavoring
  4. 2 Tablespoons of the pink sugar crystals

Above you will see what I got after mixing all the above ingredients together in a small glass bowl. The little black containers are empty Lush sample containers.

As you can see by the above picture, my ingredients made more than what I thought. I had the little clear containers that I had picked up at the Dollar Tree. You can also find containers you could use on Amazon.com. For your convenience, I have an affiliate link to Amazon.com on my blogs sidebar. I will be sharing some of this batch with my friends that lives close to me. I have been using this every night since last Wednesday and my lips have never been so soft and moisturized. I added the olive oil because I knew I would be using it at night time and since olive oil is good to remove makeup, I figured it would help remove any stubborn lipsticks or lip stains that I had on my lips along with moisturizing them. I believe it really did help the lip scrub not only to exfoliate my lips but also really moisturize them.
