Beth and Beauty’s Green Glowing Smoothie Recipe

Beth and Beauty's Green Glowing Smoothie Recipe

Hi! Beauties! Today on Beth and Beauty I am going to do a different kind of Thrifty Thursday for you. I am giving you my recipe for my Green Glowing Smoothies. The way that this is thrifty is when I first got my Vitamix Blending System,(Vitamix 5200s Black : Featuring Variable Speed Control and Large Capacity 64oz Container – Also includes Getting Started Plus Recipe Book, Instructional DVD, and 7 Year Warranty!) I was so excited that I over bought some of (most of) ingredients for my smoothies. So, I decided instead of letting the kale, spinach, cucumbers etc. go to waste I got some of the Ball’s 1 1/2 pint jars, I got mine at WalMarts but you can also find them here: Ball Jar Wide Mouth Pint and Half Jars with Lids and Bands, Set of 9. When I got home I got all my ingredients out and went to using up my ingredients and filled up 8 of the 9 jars. My husband and I both like these smoothies very much. They also seem to help us with our energy level and I notice after I have one of these I am not hungry for hours afterwards, that also goes for my husband. Since my Vitamix is a 64 oz one, I ended up making 3 batches and filled 8 jars full of this delicious healthy green smoothie. ( I would have had 9 but I drank a glass out of one of the batches) It is not to overly sweet or tart. You cannot really even taste the vegetables to me. You can make these smoothies without using the Vitamix, but be sure and chop up your vegetables in small pieces to get the smoothest texture and also so you won’t burn up the motor in your blender. This article is not sponsored by Vitamix, I also bought my own Vitamix. They don’t even know who I am. So here is the ingredients I used: ( you can adjust ingredients to your liking and size of your blender) (all measurements are approximate)

  1. 1/2 cup of Minute Maid 50 Calorie fresh squeezed Orange Juice
  2. 1/2 cup of Welchs Diet 10 Calorie Peach Twist Juice Drink
  3. 1/2  – 1 cup of cold water
  4. 5 slices of cucumber
  5. 1 stalk of celery
  6. 1 large or 2 small carrots
  7. 1 cup kale
  8. 4 cups baby spinach
  9. 1 small/medium green granny smith apple
  10. 3 small slices of lemon w/ rind
  11. 1 banana
  12. 1 to 1 1/2 cups of frozen fruit (I used peaches/strawberries/mango blend)
  13. 4 chunks of pineapple ( I had fresh cut up in my refrigerator, so they were pretty big chunks)
  14. 1 teaspoon of honey (Agave Nectar would be great also)
  15. 1 small/regular low fat peach(?) yogurt

I blended all the ingredients until all was smooth and poured the delicious mixture into my jars, placed lid on them and placed them in refrigerator. I just shake them real good in the morning and drink. Remember you can adjust amounts and what products you use in your smoothies to your taste and size of your blender. I just had to share a picture of my baby:
