Clarisonic Mia 2: My Most Loved Skincare Tool!

Clarisonic Mia 2

Hi! Beauties! Today I want to share with you my most loved and used skincare tool! My Clarisonic Mia 2. It is a sonic skin cleansing system. I purchased mine at my local Ulta, December of 2012, when they had the much waited for 20% off anything in store, usually only happens once a year. It was an splurge or I will just say it was an investment in myself (sounds better that way). I can honestly say I have not regretted purchasing this even once. It has changed the skin on my face so much. Right now at Ulta or Sephora it’s price tag is $150-$159.  The kit comes with the Mia 2, electric wall charger, sensitive brush head, trial size cleanser and a travel case. All except the charger and trial size cleanser is pictured above. I did find it on Amazon for $135. You can click on any of my Amazon links I  have on my side columns for your convenience.

There are good reviews out there and I have seen some negative ones. The negative ones that I have seen is saying it made their skin breakout, concerned due them having very sensitive skin and of course the price. This cleansing system is a sonic cleansing system, the brush uses a pulsating type of movement to purge your skin of it’s impurities. It is normal for the first 2 weeks after using it for your skin to breakout due to this purging process. If you will just stick to using it, after the purging period your skin will feel the smoothest and cleanest that it has ever felt. I have very sensitive skin also so I use the Delicate Brush Head for mine and I have no problems. There is 6 different types of replacement brush heads: Delicate, Sensitive, Normal, Deep Pore and Acne. I have only used the Sensitive and Delicate ones. The brush heads ($25) are suppose to be replaced every 3 months, I will be honest with you I make sure I cleanse my brush head after each use with an anti-bacterial soap and I don’t replace mine every 3 months. I do not use mine to remove my makeup. I do not think it was even made to just remove your makeup. I remove my makeup first with my makeup remover and then I use the my Clarisonic Mia 2 with my choice of cleanser as my final step in cleansing before I apply my toner and night cream. I only use mine at night time. I make sure I use it at least 3 times a week. I have used it every night and I had no problems. I have started using it mostly when I have wore makeup that day or 3 times a week at least.

There is another option for the Clarisonic. There is just the Original Mia ($125). The difference by what I can tell is that it only has one speed and plus it does not offer the one-minute pulsing T-Timer. The T-Timer is what I really like about the Mia 2. What it does is when you turn it on you start using it on your chin, upper lip and nose area until it buzzes, then you move to your forehead and temple area until it buzzes again, then you move to one of your cheek and jaw areas until it buzzes again then you move to the other cheek and jaw area and then it will shut off when you are finished with that final cheek and jaw area. This makes sure you use your Clarisonic for the full 1 minute recommended time period and that you use it on the right area of your face for the right amount of time.

I can tell you before I was able to afford to purchase my Clarisonic Mia 2 I was using the Olay Pro-X Advanced cleansing system. I checked today before doing this article and I found it on Amazon.com for $22. I used it the same way as I do my Clarisonic, not as a makeup remover but a final cleansing step. I wish I could say it works as good but it doesn’t. It is better than just using your hands or clothe and if I wasn’t able to have purchased my Clarisonic Mia 2, I would still be using it now. My daughter is the proud owner of it now.

Clarisonic Cleansers

Now, let’s talk about the cleansers I use with my Clarisonic Mia 2. I divided the above pictures by lower priced drugstore cleansers and the high-end cleansers. You can find the Pond’s Luminous Cream Cleanser at Walmart($5), local drugstore or even Amazon.com. The Mario Badesco Keratoplast Cream Soap can be found at your local Ulta or online. It is a middle priced cleanser coming in at $10 and you get a free gift with purchase. I purchased this one because it is suppose to help sensitive or inflamed skin. I liked both of the drugstore products and will continue alternating and using them. But, I have to tell you my FAVORITE line of cleansers is Shiseido. It is more expensive but it takes so little of product it lasts for a very long time. The one in the tan tube is the Shiseido Benefiance Extra Creamy Cleansing Foam and I have had it for I know at least 3 months and it is just now reaching empty(sad face). I got it in a anti-aging Travel/Trial kit ($46) at my local Sephora that also included a Shiseido Benefiance Toner and Moisturizer(that I have used up). I checked online and Sephora doesn’t seem to have the kit online, it could still be in the store though. The cleanser at Sephora in the full size 4.4 oz is $35. The blue bottle of Shideido cleanser  in the above picture is the Shiseido Pureness Foaming Fluid Mousse. I was lucky and found it at a TJ Maxx while on my birthday weekend get-a-way last month for $14.99 and it is a full size. I love it and have added it to my rotation. For me I have found cream cleansers work best for me with the Clarisonic Mia 2.

I hope this article will help you if you have been pondering on whether or not to get a Clarisonic. I personally love mine and don’t regret the purchase but I also know and have been there where I could not afford the price tag. I also hope this helps answer the question on what type of cleanser to use with a Clarisonic.

Good Morning Beth!!!! Thank you sooooo much for reviewing the Mia 2, I have been sitting on the fence with this purchase, but after reading your glowing statements, I have decided that I will take the plunge this month. I currently have the SkinSonic cleansing brush which is fine, but far from great. You have sealed the deal for me. Once I have purchased it which will probably be in a couple of weeks, I will provide you some feedback. Thanks again. Hugs xoxoxoxo

  • Good Morning to you Nathalie! Thank you so much! I am so glad I could help with your decision. I know you are going to love it. Yes please give me some feed back after you get yours. Hugs back!!!!!!!

I have a Clarisonic on my wish list, for now I’m using Ulta’s non-sonic face brush because it’s better than just my hands and a washcloth. I’ve also been using that Pond’s Luminous Clean cleanser for a while now and have been more impressed with it than i ever expected to be.

    • I know right, that Pond’s cleanser is really good for the price. Hopefully you will be able to get a Clarisonic soon, until then you are right, the Ulta face brush is better than just your hands and wash cloth
