Eyebrows 101: Get Perfectly Shaped Eyebrows!

Brow Shaping Example 4

Hi! Beauties! Today, as requested, I am going to attempt to show illustrations on how to shape your eyebrows. If you have never had them professionally done, I would suggest for your first time to go and have them done by a professional.  I would also recommend if you are a beginner, like myself, and you haven’t already read about what brow products I am using now, you can check these products out in my Anastasia Brow Article. If you can’t afford all of what I got, no worries, I would at least recommend the  Anastasia Brow Kit. It will have all that you actually need to get a great eyebrow look. You can get it online on Sephora’s website. For your convenience, I have a link in the right side bar for Sephora or you could go to Anastasia’s website to purchase it. This article is going to be more focused for someone who has just missed an appointment or someone that is  just trying to maintain their eyebrow shape until their next brow appointment.

Tools you are going to need:

  • Spoolie Brush: I would suggest one with an eyebrow brush on other end. The spoolie will be used to brush brow hair up and away and the eyebrow slanted brush head will be used to help fill in brows, if you use an powder.
  • Small scissors: Should be actual brow scissors that are sharp.
  • Brow Pencil or Brow Powder
  • Long handled but small brush head eye shadow brush. (could just use a pencil/pen) This item will only be used for a guide like in the above picture.
  • Tweezers: It is very important to have a good pair of sharp tweezers. Anastasia or Tweezerman has good ones. This is the most important tool of all for your brows.

Brow Shaping Example 2

In the first picture right above here, you will see what they call The Golden Ratio. It shows you where your eyebrows should start, where the top of your arch should be and where your eyebrow should end. The second picture right above shows a more exaggerated picture of the 3 important points of your eyebrow. Now lets go over the steps:

  1. Use your spoolie brush to brush your brow hair up and away.
  2. After you have brushed all the hairs in one direction, snip any strands that are noticeably longer than the others. Always cut across the top of the brow, never down.
  3. Before you pluck, use your eyebrow pencil or brush and powder to mark your 3 guide points. The inner edge of your brow should line up with the outside of your nose.
  4. The highest point of your arch should be where the diagonal line extending from the outside of your nose to the outside of your pupil would hit.
  5. The outer edge of your brow should taper off at the point where your eyebrow and the diagonal line from your nose to the outside corner of your eye would intersect.
  6. Using your pencil or brush/powder to fill in your brows using the 3 point guideline you just made, then pluck away the strays.

Brow Shaping Example 3

The above picture shows you a white outlined (for a vision) shaped and filled eyebrow. It takes practice but you can fill in your brows and pluck just some stray hairs in between going and getting your eyebrows professionally waxed and shaped. If I can do it, I know you can to. I do want to make it clear that I only fill in my brows and pluck just the stray hairs away between my brow appointments.  I have to admit that I use to not understand why people would spend so much money on a pair of tweezers, until now, now I understand. Your tweezers makes all the difference with your precision while plucking your eyebrows. I just wished I had gone to Dallas to the Anastasia Brow Studio before I had bought my Tweezerman’s tweezers. Oh! Well! I now have 2 good pair of tweezers. One for my purse and one for my makeup room.
